Overview

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition usually affecting the central face. Subtypes range from flushing and redness to papulopustular and thickened skin presentations.

Common symptoms

  • Redness

    Persistent or intermittent facial or skin redness.

  • Visible blood vessels

    Fine red vessels visible at the skin surface.

  • Spots and pustules

    Inflamed lesions containing pus.

Why it happens

Vascular and immune dysregulation, Demodex mites, genetics, and triggers such as heat, alcohol, spicy food and stress.

Identify and avoid personal triggers, use gentle fragrance-free skincare and apply mineral SPF daily.

When to seek advice

Seek advice if you experience eye irritation, thickening skin, or if redness is progressive.
